Our Programs

Garden Based Learning

In 2015, Create Purpose launched the first phase of the Science curriculum with a Garden Based Learning pilot program in one orphanage based on the proven methodology of STEAM Learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math) using Project Based Learning principles.

This approach teaches children life skills that help them overcome poverty and pursue their purpose. The program helps our children to learn the basics of today’s complex food systems and where they fit into the systems while incorporating Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math. We teach foundational skills of organic gardening and how to grow and harvest food that will come from their garden. Create Purpose is working collaboratively within the Tijuana community and the children are understanding the benefits of a network of support.

Technology Program

Our technology program is a lean-in, practical approach to providing Orphans and Vulnerable Children with the tools for computer literacy and beyond.

Using existing technology education platforms, local Tijuana experts in technology join forces with San Diego technology specialists to bring this one-of-a-kind learning experience to the children.

Caretaker Workshops

Along with Desarrollo Integral de la Familia (DIF) and Culinary Art School, we launched our first series of workshops that focuses on providing nutrition training for caretakers of orphanages.

Our first group of students are going through a nutrition certification series where they will learn best practices for healthy eating when caring for a multitude of children. With this first group, there are 6 orphanages that represent over 450 children.

Our Commitment

We are committed to the development of Orphans & Vulnerable Children and the communities in which they live. We work to change the way that we historically give to vulnerable populations by focusing on giving them the tools to EMPOWER themselves and thrive. We are far from where we want to be regarding program development, evaluations and community inclusion but we have built a solid foundation on which we will continue to create, innovate and grow.
